Application of Fertilizer
- The black velvet is a slow grower so do not force it to grow faster with over-fertilization.
- Use an NPK (19:19:19) fertiliser
Watering
- Water twice a week.
- Do not overwater the plant.
- Alocasia loves to have a dry spell in between watering and does not do well with soggy soil.
Repotting & Propagation
- The alocasia is a slow grower and will not need repotting frequently but repot it in a fresh medium annually for better growth.
Alocasias can be propagated through underground rhizome division, which then needs to be kept warm and moist till new growth appears.
